Isn’t it amazing how ‘getting away’ from what you’ve been stewing on so often makes it easier to reach a decision?
I mentioned last week that my vacation was a real kick – lots of water, floating, change of scenery, etc.
I left town assuming I was buying the time and distance to reach a difficult decision, and instead found myself reaching a complicated decision with ease. In fact the decision felt so easy that I started chewing on it and doubting it.
How often do you face a seemingly complex decision, putting off action because of your confusion over how to proceed? I hope this week’s article will offer you some tips on how to shift from that stall out, into decision and action.
You’ll see the results of my decision in the next few week – I’m doing the unexpected: hosting a new radio show. Not at all what I would have anticipated this time last year, nor 2 years ago as I started to revolutionize my business.
And the ‘difficulty’ I mentioned above? I was struggling with whether to take on a long and complicated business-building project, every step of which would be complex and novel and a project that I don’t currently have any resources to support. More about that later, because I’m not giving it up, just shifting it out of the center of focus for a couple of months.
Meanwhile, with that week of distance I could see the situation from a new angle of view. As a result, I’m choosing what I perceive as the most resourced, and in the short run easiest activity. I’ll be finding and interviewing people who have succeeded in growing their businesses, and those who have solutions for business leaders. There is an ocean of inspiration to be shared by these folks, and I’m eager to bring this new show to fruition.
Enjoy this week’s article and stay tuned for more on the radio show!
